Homeschool is Pretty Beautiful

This past week, while Jasper and I have been waiting for most of his home school programs to begin, we have been discovering the joys of learning whenever and wherever we are. Not in a teachable moment kind of way but an unstoppable force of curiousity kind of way that spills out of Jasper. He wants to know it ALL. For me, a love of mystery and laziness usually keeps me from researching further into much of the natural phenomena around me. I am such a purely aesthetically inclined type of person that I could gaze at a moth for hours without thinking to wonder what it's name was or where it came from. Not so with Jasper. He wants to identify each creature and plant and to understand it's place in our forest home. He longs to experience the perspective of each animal by understanding it's life cycle. What is it like to build a cocoon and emerge a completely different being capable of flight? Is the black and white coloring a form of camoulflage or to give off a warning? Why was this one alone in the middle of the road? The endless questions and theories are starting to have an effect on my own thought processes. Now I find myself begining to wonder all the more about the world around me. This seems like a good thing because if we continue on this homeschool life style, I think I am going to have a whole new education of my own.
